National Scrapbooking Day revives one's enthusiasm for this expensive sport!!!

Wow I should really be on a newspaper, don't you think, with headlines like that?! lol

So this weekend we scrapbookers have been celebrating National Scrapbooking Day. Of course, there was a time once when every day felt like National Scrapbooking Day, the days when I was completely obsessed and it was all I could think about. Sadly, this hasn't been the case recently, and *horror* I have even contemplated giving up and selling all my stash. How stupid. I have looked bad to the good old days when my children were younger and life was easier and I had more free time, and felt a little bit resentful, if I'm honest, that things have changed and moved on. Of course, the kids are so much more fun these days, little people with whom I can comunicate with on a "proper" level, play things that actually interest me too, etc etc, but the days of early bedtimes and naps during the day are long gone. I used to think the baby days were hard, but in truth, it just gets harder as they get older. But wait, I'm not complaining, truly, it's just hard to fit everything in, that's all.

Anyway. Yesterday I had to work, so I missed the first part of the crop, but do you know what? I've gotta say (and sorry Libby O), that the crop yesterday I think was quite possibly the nicest we've had in a long time. I don't know why, it just all came together nicely. We missed a lot of our regulars, but I think that it was all down to our newly-promoted Director of Challenges, Demo Deb. She done us proud. It spurred us all on, and of course me, not being at all competitive, well I found it quite hard to get motivated, having arrived late an' all. I saw the girls whizzing on and felt like just giving up and having a cuppa. YEAH RIGHT!!!! I did four layouts and completed all the challenges. OF COURSE!!!!

So, thanks Deb, unfortunately for you, you've set a precedent now, and we all expect such motivational and thought-provoking tools as you provided us with this weekend. And now for the layouts.

1) Sketch provided by Page Maps, and stash from Scrapagogo.

2) Challenge - to produce a LO scrapbooking related, or with a photo of oneself, and to say what you love about scrapbooking.
3) Sketch provided by Creative Scrappers: 4) Deb very kindly asked us to scraplift one of my LOs that was published in SBM a while ago, Thanks Deb!! This one is the original:

And this is my new version!

I hadn't realised you were having a scrap crisis. but at the same time am very glad to hear that yesterday seems to have put you back on track.

it's so lovely to see some of your latest creations, I have really been missing them recently. They are, of course, all gorgeous and I love seeing piccies of the brood that I haven't seen before (neeeeeed)

I didn't do much yesterday apart from my LOAD layout - I wanted to but I just find it more difficult to make/find the time to much much scrap wise at the weekends. I would have loved to have joined in some challenges. Glad to hear you managed all that and that your crop was fun and successful.

Missing you all
x

I have had the very same thought just recently about getting rid off my stash. When I'm feeling fed up what do I reach for but some paper and some pretties. So the likelyhood of that happening is pretty slim.

Wow you did do loads of lovely layouts at the crop. Sorry I missed it, crazy time at the moment.

See you soon.

I think we all feel like packing it in at times, well I know I do. But we just get the little bit of inspiration and it all comes flooding back, why we enjoy the hobby so much.

Love all the layouts your did, I love the one called 'Fever', might do a scraplift if you don't mind.

I managed to do 6 layouts over the weekend. All the challenges sounded really good. Glad you had a great time.
